چکیده

We study the optimization of nonperturbative renormalization group equations truncated both in fields and derivatives. On the example of the Ising model in three dimensions, we show that the Principle of Minimal Sensitivity can be unambiguously implemented at order ∂ of the derivative expansion. This approach allows us to select optimized cutoff functions and to improve the accuracy of the critical exponents ν and η. The convergence of the field expansion is also analyzed. We show in particular that its optimization does not coincide with optimization of the accuracy of the critical exponents.

Optimized renormalization group flows

We study the optimization of exact renormalization group ~ERG! flows. We explain why the convergence of approximate solutions towards the physical theory is optimized by appropriate choices of the regularization. We consider specific optimized regulators for bosonic and fermionic fields and compare the optimized ERG flows with generic ones. This is done up to second order in the derivative expa...

Nonperturbative renormalization group preserving full-momentum dependence: implementation and quantitative evaluation.

We present the implementation of the Blaizot-Méndez-Wschebor approximation scheme of the nonperturbative renormalization group we present in detail, which allows for the computation of the full-momentum dependence of correlation functions. We discuss its significance and its relation with other schemes, in particular, the derivative expansion. Quantitative results are presented for the test gro...

Reexamination of the nonperturbative renormalization-group approach to the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition.

We reexamine the two-dimensional linear O(2) model (φ4 theory) in the framework of the nonperturbative renormalization-group. From the flow equations obtained in the derivative expansion to second order and with optimization of the infrared regulator, we find a transition between a high-temperature (disordered) phase and a low-temperature phase displaying a line of fixed points and algebraic or...

Convergence of derivative expansions of the renormalization group

We investigate the convergence of the derivative expansion of the exact renormalization group, by using it to compute the β function of scalar λφ theory. We show that the derivative expansion of the Polchinski flow equation converges at one loop for certain fast falling smooth cutoffs. The derivative expansion of the Legendre flow equation trivially converges at one loop, but also at two loops:...

Renormalization flow of Yang-Mills propagators

We study Landau-gauge Yang-Mills theory by means of a nonperturbative vertex expansion of the quantum effective action. Using an exact renormalization group equation, we compute the fully dressed gluon and ghost propagators to lowest nontrivial order in the vertex expansion. In the mid-momentum regime, p2 ∼ O(1)GeV, we probe the propagator flow with various ansätze for the threeand four-point c...
